About Tom Schek

I’m a contemporary artist who brings a deep appreciation for form, weight, and touch to my tactile concrete sculptures.

Proudly self-taught, my artistic journey began at the easel as an impressionist painter. Over time, an increasing fascination with thicker and thicker textures on the canvas naturally pulled me off the two-dimensional surface and into the world of dimensional form. While sculpting is my primary focus today, painting remains an essential part of my creative practice.

Working with various concrete mixes brings a dynamic energy to the studio. I thrive on the unique, focused momentum required by the medium—even when utilizing mixes with extended working times. This material imparts an organic look, a rich texture, and a significant heft to each finished piece.

Ultimately, my sculptures are created to be interactive art objects, inviting viewers to pick them up, hold them, and fully engage with their physical presence.
